YOUTH 'SPEAK OUT' MEETS WITH COUNCIL
It's
hoped at least one project will gain the support
from Griffith City Council when the Youth Speak
Out presents senior Council staff and Mayor Dino
Zappacosta with a document detailing what the
youth of today need to keep them out of trouble.
Co-ordinator
Val Rowe says she is amazed by how quickly the
ideas have come together in such a short period
of time and the simplicity of some of the proposals.
"Council
has been really co-operative, they are keen to
meet with the youth speak out team and value the
input tfrom them. We are looking for some level
of commitment from Council to implement at least
one of the suggested projects put forward in the
document," said Val.
According
to Val boredom is a very big issue amongst the
youth of today, with very few free activities
at young people's disposal. Val is hoping through
Council that the youth speak out team can turn
boredom into positive and constructive activities
and projects.
"All
the youth issues have come solely from the hearts
of the youth and they can now see the light. They
are really enthused and intrigued and believe
something will come of it," said Val.
